Michael’s earliest influence in acting came from Augusto Boal and the ‘Theatre of the Oppressed’, which he studied in high school. With advice from his mentor, Michael chose a direct route to acting and has been performing since 2005 when he booked his first role as Simon Bliss in Noel Cowards ‘Hay Fever at the Genesian Theatre in Sydney. Michael Sutherland is an accomplished individual with a diverse range of interests and an unwavering passion for creating and positively impacting the world. On his journey, Michael has experienced every facet of society and character through 20 years in hospitality all the while nurturing a profound love of acting and a new drive for storytelling. Michael has spent many hours exploring the acting techniques of Stanislavski, Meisner, Strasberg Chekhov and Chubbuck, merging the classical with the modern to form his unique style to the craft. In 2015, Michael relocated to London to advance his career. He met his wife and spent five years starting a family, settling in the English countryside. Michael is fuelled by his deep fascination with stories that serve as mirrors to their audiences, reflecting the human experience and its complexities.
